Replatforming an e-commerce brand for scale

The challenge
A legacy monolith buckled every sale event — pages took six seconds to load, releases shipped quarterly, and every promotion was a gamble on uptime.
What we built
An embedded Datricx squad executed a strangler-fig migration to a headless Next.js storefront with edge rendering — replatforming incrementally with zero downtime while the old system kept selling.
How we did it
- 01
Embedded a Datricx squad directly into the client's sprints, repos, and code reviews — one team, one backlog.
- 02
Chose a strangler-fig migration: the highest-traffic pages moved to the new headless storefront first, while the legacy monolith kept serving everything else.
- 03
Rebuilt the storefront on Next.js with edge rendering and aggressive caching — product pages went from six seconds to under one.
- 04
Set up CI/CD with automated testing and instant rollbacks, taking releases from quarterly to daily without adding risk.
- 05
Load-tested against three times the biggest historical traffic spike before Black Friday — which then passed without a single incident.
The result
Sub-second page loads, daily deploys, and their first Black Friday in years without a single incident.
